Bpai Tiao: School Field Trip to Korat

I’ve posted about the field trip that I went on to Chonburi with the 4-6th graders, and last week Wednesday was the 1st-3rd graders turn for some end of the semester fun.

I got a message from my co-teacher the day before telling me about it, since school has been out and I wouldn’t have known about it. She told me that they were going to go to the museum and the Korat Zoo. I figured, I haven’t been to the Korat Zoo before and it would be a good opportunity for me to spend some time with some of the other teachers at the school, so I went along.

This time, since we were just staying in the province, I didn’t have to go to the school in the middle of the night, just 7 a.m. I got there just as the buses were arriving, perfect! Everyone loaded up and we were off. Of course there was karaoke videos playing, but it wasn’t too loud and no one had a microphone to sing along into, so I was OK with it.

Korat Fossil Museum

I didn’t know what museum we were going to, so I was really excited when we pulled into the parking lot for the Korat Fossil Museum. You may remember when I went last bpit term. I was really excited to go back, even if we were rushed through a bit. I really liked it and I think that the kids did too.

Korat Zoo

After eating some sticky rice in the parking lot, we got back on the bus for more karaoke videos. Just before we got to the zoo, one song came on that had all the kids singing along, which was fun to see. The Korat Zoo was great. We got tickets for the tram that we could get on and off as we pleased for the next three hours. The enclosures for the animals were very spacious and looked like good environments for them. There was a lot of new enclosures that were under construction that looked like they would even improve some of the enclosures.

After the first stop, I ended up going around to most of the animals by myself, which was fine. I was glad to have time to look at the animals and watch some of my favorites. I didn’t use the full three hours looking at the animals, and when I got back to the main area, I found one of the other teachers in the gift shop. Turns out there is also a water park at the zoo and most of the kids were over there. I did not bring my swim suit and did not want to rent one, so I found a place there that did massages.

Unfortunately, because the kids were cold, my massage got interrupted because they moved the leave time up by an hour. I was a little miffed, especially because they turned up the volume on the karaoke for the ride home. I ended up back at school with an aching head, trying to focus on the fun that I had before getting on the bus back home.
